The overall purpose of my teaching singing is to develop and strengthen the ”personal” voice, which is unike for every single individual..
Only a totally personal voice with a personal expression is able to influence and move the listener.
We all know singers with extraordinary, ”strange” voices – not necessarily beatiful voices – who through the history and today has moved and fascinated a huge audience:Tom Waits, Joe Cocker, Janis Joplin, Nina Hagen and Leonard Cohen. In the classical music world there are not many ”strange” voices, but very personal voices like: Maria Callas, Paverotti. Domingo ect.
Background.
My teaching is based on exercises by Ian Adam.and his ideas about sound, resonance, flexibility and strengthening of the voice
A lesson will start with a ½ hour exercises to develop technique and a ½ hour of work with a repertoire that corresponds the pupils' age, ambition and dramatic/musical qualifications.
I have worked with professional actors/singers/dancers as well as people on their way into the Theatre for the last 27 years.
I have been employed at the The Danish National School of Theater in Copenhagen and the Musical Academy in Fredericia.
In 2009 I gave a masterclass at The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, New York.
